Concurrent Enrollment is a program available for high school students, living on Oahu, who want to gain college credit while completing the requirements for their high school diploma. High school students will need to enroll as a non-degree-seeking student and take courses for full credit. In most cases, these university credits will transfer to other major universities.

According to the Department of Education's Duel Enrollment: Accelerating the Transition to College paper, proponents of dual enrollment argue that these programs:

1. Prepare students for the academic rigors of college by exposing them to the type of intense curriculum that research has found to promote bachelor's degree attainment.

2. Lower the cost of post-secondary education for students by enabling them to earn free college credits (depending on state policy) and shorten their time to degree completion.

3. Provide students with more realistic information about the academic and social skills that they will need to succeed in college through their participation.

4. Provide curricular options for students, particularly in high schools that, due to small size or inadequate funding, are unable to offer interesting and exciting electives.

As BYU–Hawaii would like to offer more educational opportunities to our local Hawaii high school students, we are offering 50% off of tuition to students who enroll in the Concurrent Enrollment program. For example, if a student chooses to take a regular three (3) credit hour course the normal cost would be $804, but with the 1/2 off tuition offer, the actual cost to the student would only be $402.

Concurrently enrolled students can take no more than seven (7) credit hours.

The cost breakdown is explained further:
